Review: Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya – Riviera Maya, Mexico

Our family was so excited to get to stop by Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya and more specifically check out their newest kids club called “Star Camp”.  This hotel is set along the beautiful coastline right in between Playa Del Carmen and Cancun.  I won’t lie, we have found all inclusive resorts to be hit or miss at times (especially when it comes to food), but this hotel hit it out of the park in so many ways!  We stayed in a beautiful family junior suite that was definitely spacious enough for the four of us. It consisted of two connecting rooms, each with their own sitting area and balcony.

Dining

We were so surprised by not only the amount of dining options at Iberostar, but also the amazing quality of food!  From the morning buffets with fresh pastries, omelets, fruit and endless selections, everyone in our family was excited to start off the day!   Our favorite for lunch was at the onsite shopping mall, where they had an amazing taco shop for delicious tacos & nachos as well as a crepe shop for European-style crepes made fresh right in front of you for dessert.  With a giant playground and carousel in the shopping mall area, the kids could run and play while we enjoyed our meals.  For dinner there were a ton of options: whether you wanted a buffet or make a reservation at one of the following: La Marina (Seafood), El Tapatío (Authentic Mexican), La Geisha (Japanese Teppanyaki), L’Etoile (Gourmet French), El Rancho (Steakhouse).  Overall we had a fabulous experience with the food and beverages throughout the resort.

Pools

There are definitely no shortages of pools at Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya! After 5 days, I still don’t know if we swam in all of them! From the kids pirate ship waterpark, to the wave pool, lazy river, and activity pool our family had endless options of fun!

The Beach

We loved how easy it was traveling with little ones to enjoy the beach.  There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas each day for us to grab a seat. Also right on the beach there was unlimited ice cream, a bar, and perfect place to grab a snack whether you wanted a burger or fruit cup. We also love that the hotel provides snorkel gear and non-motorized water activities at no extra cost to enjoy the clear waters and beautiful setting.

Star Camp (Kids Club)

I was saving the best for last as we (more specifically our oldest son Santi) fell in love with the Star Camp Kids Club. We travel often and stay at hotels worldwide, but the Star Camp went above and beyond.  It was obvious from the moment we dropped our Santi off that they weren’t just going to make sure he remained safe for the day, but that they were going to engage with him and make sure he had tons of fun.   The newly renovated kids club itself was beautiful with a giant jungle themed room, indoor trampoline park, outdoor playground and endless activities.  The Star Camp staff frequently took the kids to the pools and had dance parties.

What impressed us the absolute most though were the nightly performances the club put on. During the day they would practice for a themed show that would be performed on the main stage in the evening for parents and guests. Santi participated in the Moana show.  We did not expect for every child to have their own Moana-themed costume and it to be such a special evening.  In 1 day they managed to put on a show better than many schools put on after months of practice, it was adorable and a night we will never forget.

Overall, the Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya is an incredible all-inclusive resort for a family vacation. There is something for everyone (including a top-notch fitness center, fitness classes, a casino, and nightclub) that even in 5 days we didn’t get to experience it all. We hope to be able to go back and spend more time at this little slice of paradise.

Until next time Iberostar!
